Mridul Gautam has recently accepted the Interim Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development. Dr. Gautam works in conjunction with Dr. Curt Peterson, Interim Vice President for Research and Economic Development. Dr. Gautam will be working with faculty and associate research deans on the main campus to implement the strategic plan for research and economic development. He assists both individual investigators and multidisciplinary collaboratives across one or more colleges. In this position, he is the principal contact with potential federal, state, and private-sector funding sources and insures the competency of the University research program to potential sponsors.

He oversees internal competitive grant programs administrated by the Office of the Interim Vice President for Research and Economic Development, participates in strategic planning for university-wide research centers.
